Justin Madrid

Justin Madrid is an esteemed colorguard director at Lone Star High School, bringing over a decade of experience in teaching, designing, and choreographing for marching band and winter guard programs across Texas.

Originally from Odessa, TX, Mr. Madrid now resides in Dallas, TX, where he continues to inspire and lead young performers. Throughout his 11-year career, Mr. Madrid has made significant contributions to numerous high school programs, including Odessa High School, Denver City High School, Midland Lee High School, and many more in West Texas. His expertise and dedication have consistently elevated the performance quality and competitive success of these programs. In his recent role as an instructor and choreographer at Melissa High School, Mr. Madrid's leadership led the team to remarkable achievements. Under his guidance, Melissa High School made finals at the WGI Tulsa and San Antonio regionals, earned a National A silver medal, and performed in the finals at the Alamodome for the UIL State Marching Contest three times.

Mr. Madrid's impact extends internationally as well. In 2020, he traveled to Costa Rica to design for Banda Municipal de Zarcero Winterguard and co-founded Girasol Winterguard, the country's first international independent group. He also worked with Imperium Winterguard in Puerto Rico, helping them achieve their first appearance at the WGI World Championships in 2022.

Before joining Lone Star High School, Mr. Madrid served as the director at Lakeview Centennial High School, where his teams earned numerous awards. As a performer, he boasts impressive credentials, including being a WGI silver medalist in 2018 with CGT Denton and a three-time world-class finalist with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps.

Since joining Lone Star High School, Mr. Madrid has led the colorguard to numerous victories. The team has won multiple caption awards, became Area Champions in 2022, qualified for UIL State twice, and secured a top 10 placement at the UIL State Finals. Additionally, Lone Star High School has been a BOA Dallas Finalist in both 2021 and 2022. In the winter season, Lone Star High School was proud to earn the bronze medal in 2022 and 2024.

Mr. Madrid's passion for the arts and commitment to excellence continue to drive the success of Lone Star High School's colorguard program. His leadership and vision inspire students to reach new heights, both on and off the field.
